There’s a mysterious man hanging about the research department of a big TV network — engineer Richard Sumner (Spencer Tracy) — who's been ordered to keep his real purpose a secret: computerizing the office. Department head Bunny Watson (Katharine Hepburn), an eidetic savant, needs no computer to unmask Richard.
